HoleMole #2 Core Hole Former – 3–4.5in (76–114mm)
Description
HoleMole #2 Core Hole Former – 3–4.5in (76–114mm)
- Designed for 76–114mm openings: Fits measured concrete core holes between 3 and 4.5 inches in diameter.
- Installation from the working level: The former can be lowered, positioned and supported entirely from above the concrete slab.
- Adjustable support tabs: HoleMole #2 features bendable tabs that assist with positioning and allow use in suitable wall applications.
HoleMole #2 is an expandable galvanised-steel former for concrete core holes measuring 3 to 4.5 inches, approximately 76 to 114mm. It covers a useful small-to-medium opening range commonly encountered during building-services alterations, commercial fit-outs, maintenance work and the closure of redundant slab penetrations.
Installation takes place from the working side of the slab. The perimeter sections collapse as the Mole is pushed through the core, then open below the concrete. The supplied threaded rod is used to draw the former back against the underside, allowing compatible repair material to be placed without routinely travelling to the floor below to drill, prop or fix a temporary board.
Size #2 also features bendable positioning tabs. These help establish the correct resting position and support suitable wall-opening applications when the compatible HoleMole Wall Applicator and an approved project method are used. Supplied through Cable Glands UK, HoleMole #2 gives UK contractors access to the original system with support from our Manchester-based team.
Important: This product contains 1 × HoleMole #2 and 1 × 24-inch (approximately 610mm) threaded rod. Reusable application tools, wall equipment and repair compounds are supplied separately unless the listing states otherwise.

Applications
Typical Uses for the 76–114mm HoleMole
The #2 size suits small-to-medium openings where a compact former is required but the 51–76mm HoleMole #1 is too small.
- Office and retail fit-outs: Closing relocated electrical, data or small pipe-service openings in floor slabs.
- Education and healthcare estates: Making good measured concrete cores during planned maintenance and refurbishment.
- Multi-storey construction: Reducing routine coordination with the occupied or active level beneath a repair.
- Plant and utility rooms: Supporting specified repair material in redundant small-to-medium penetrations.
- Suitable wall openings: Using the bendable tabs and compatible Wall Applicator where the approved method permits.
How to Use
How to Install HoleMole #2
- Check the core hole at several points and verify that its clear diameter is between 76 and 114mm.
- Remove loose material and prepare the concrete as required by the chosen repair system.
- Attach the supplied threaded rod, collapse the Mole sections and lower the former through the opening.
- Pull the rod upwards so the Mole opens and seats below the slab. Adjust the bendable tabs only where required by the approved application method.
- Centre the Mole Stand over the opening, slide the SpeedNut down the rod and turn it to secure the former.
- Fit the Speed Chute, place and finish the specified repair material, then remove the reusable tools and deal with the rod after the required set has been achieved.
Important: For wall openings, use the compatible Wall Applicator and follow the manufacturer’s wall-installation method. Confirm all structural, fire, acoustic and waterproofing requirements separately.
FAQs
What diameter opening is HoleMole #2 designed for?
HoleMole #2 covers measured concrete core openings from 3 to 4.5 inches, approximately 76 to 114mm.
Why does HoleMole #2 have bendable tabs?
The tabs help establish a suitable resting position and aid compatible wall-opening installation. They should be adjusted only in accordance with the manufacturer’s method and project specification.
Is a 24-inch rod supplied with the Mole?
Yes. One 24-inch threaded aluminium rod, approximately 610mm long, is included.
What other HoleMole equipment is needed?
For standard slab installation you will normally require the reusable Mole Stand, SpeedNut and Speed Chute. Wall applications require the compatible Wall Applicator.
Does HoleMole #2 replace the repair material?
No. It forms the supporting base beneath the opening. A suitable grout or repair compound must be selected and installed separately.
Does the steel former stay in the hole?
Yes. The Mole remains beneath the cured repair, while the stand, SpeedNut and chute are removed for reuse.
Is UK product-selection help available?
Yes. Cable Glands UK supplies HoleMole products nationwide and can help identify the correct size from the measured opening diameter.
