HoleMole #4 Core Hole Former – 6.75–9.5in (171–241mm)
Description
HoleMole #4 Core Hole Former – 6.75–9.5in (171–241mm)
HoleMole #4 is a large expandable former for concrete core holes measuring 6.75 to 9.5 inches, approximately 171 to 241mm. It is intended for substantial floor-slab openings found in plant areas, commercial construction, industrial upgrades and projects involving larger redundant service penetrations.
Like the smaller HoleMole sizes, #4 is installed from the upper working level. Folding perimeter sections allow it to pass through the opening before returning to position beneath the slab. The threaded rod is then pulled upwards and secured to the Mole Stand, holding the former in place while compatible repair material is placed through the Speed Chute.
The #4 Mole adds formed stability ribs to its 16-gauge galvanised-steel construction. These ribs provide additional stiffness across the wider former, while bendable positioning tabs aid resting position and suitable wall applications. One 24-inch threaded aluminium rod is supplied. Cable Glands UK provides nationwide UK supply and technical support from Manchester.
Important: This listing contains 1 × HoleMole #4 and 1 × 24-inch (approximately 610mm) threaded rod. The stand, SpeedNut, chute, Wall Applicator and selected repair material must be ordered or provided separately.
Key Features
Key Features of HoleMole #4
- For large openings: Designed for actual concrete core diameters from 6.75 to 9.5 inches, approximately 171 to 241mm.
- Stability-rib reinforcement: Formed ribs add stiffness to the larger-diameter steel former.
- Bendable positioning tabs: Supports correct resting position and suitable wall applications using compatible equipment.
- Expandable one-way sections: Folds for insertion and opens below the slab to support the repair base.
- From-above installation: Helps reduce work beneath large openings and avoids fixing a conventional temporary board in many routine applications.
- 16-gauge galvanised steel: Durable construction remains in position beneath the completed repair.
- 610mm rod supplied: Includes one 24-inch threaded aluminium rod for lowering and securing the Mole.
- Designed for the HoleMole tool set: Uses the reusable stand, SpeedNut and Speed Chute to create a controlled filling arrangement.

Applications
Typical Uses for the 171–241mm HoleMole
The reinforced #4 former is intended for larger cores where a smaller Mole cannot provide the required seating area.
- Plant-room alterations: Closing large redundant pipe, cable or service penetrations after equipment changes.
- Industrial construction: Supporting specified repair systems in substantial slab openings.
- Commercial redevelopment: Making good larger floor cores during major refurbishment programmes.
- Utility and infrastructure buildings: Repairing measured concrete openings where from-above installation improves site coordination.
- Wall penetrations: Using the bendable tabs and Wall Applicator when the wall method is suitable and approved.
How to Use
How to Install HoleMole #4
- Measure the opening carefully and confirm the actual diameter is between 171 and 241mm across the full core.
- Inspect the surrounding concrete and prepare the substrate to the repair specification. Do not install against loose or unsound edges.
- Connect the supplied rod and fold the HoleMole #4 sections so the reinforced former passes through the opening.
- Pull the rod upwards and check that the Mole has opened fully and seats evenly beneath the concrete.
- Place the Mole Stand, lock the rod with the SpeedNut and fit the chute before introducing the approved repair material.
- Control the pour, finish the upper surface and remove the application tools after the repair has reached the set required by the method statement.
Important: The stability ribs strengthen the former but do not define the performance of the finished repair. Loading, fire resistance, acoustic sealing and water resistance must be addressed by the complete specified system.
FAQs
Which HoleMole fits a 200mm concrete core hole?
A measured 200mm opening falls within the approximate 171–241mm range of HoleMole #4, subject to suitable seating, overlap and concrete condition.
What is different about HoleMole #4?
In addition to bendable tabs, the #4 size incorporates stability ribs that add stiffness across the larger former.
Is a threaded rod supplied?
Yes. One 24-inch threaded aluminium rod, approximately 610mm long, is included with each HoleMole #4.
Can #4 be installed without boarding below?
The former is designed to be lowered and secured from above, so a temporary plywood board beneath the hole is not normally part of the HoleMole method.
Is HoleMole #4 a structural repair product?
It is a support former. Any structural performance must come from a repair design and material approved for the opening and loading conditions.
Can the stand be used again?
Yes. The stand, SpeedNut and chute are reusable application tools. The Mole remains under the cured repair.
Can Cable Glands UK supply HoleMole #4 across the UK?
Yes. Cable Glands UK supplies HoleMole products to UK contractors and projects, with support from its Manchester-based team.
